Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What's a Dongle?
A: A dongle looks just like a flash drive or a thumb drive and fits into any USB port.  It's a Security "key" that unlocks portions of your P3ProSwing software, and it looks like this:

Because this is the Security key to your software, you should be extremely cautious not to lose this device.   Losing the SmartDongle is equivalent to losing your Windows Operating System License key and will require purchasing a software upgrade to replace it.

Q: How do I get the P3ProSwing Swing Analysis data on both my monitor and projector?
A: Click here for the cloning instructions on two of the most commonly used video cards. (A PDF file with instructions will automatically open.)

Q: Can I hit real golf balls with the P3ProSwing?
A: Yes, you can hit real golf balls with the P3ProSwing. We recommend using a Practice Golf Net or Hanging Impact Screen to catch the ball as the P3ProSwing is designed for indoor use.

Because the P3ProSwing reads club data, you can use real golf balls, fake golf balls and even no ball at all.

Q: Do I need special golf clubs?
A: No need for special clubs, you can use the clubs you already own.

Q: Do I need a stance mat?
A: An indoor golf hitting mat will bring your feet level with the unit. When your feet are even with the P3ProSwing sensor unit, you get the most accurate shot data from your swing. Our practice golf mats have been designed to surround the P3ProSwing so that you can keep your body aligned with the sensor unit. The practice golf mats and putting strips also fold for convenient storage.

Q: Can my game really improve with P3ProSwing?
A: Absolutely. Many golf professionals now use P3ProSwing to teach their clients. It is the fast, easy and scientific way to improve your game.  We have several examples of P3ProSwing success stories.

Q: What do you need to do to set up the P3ProSwing?
A: Here are the five steps to set up your P3ProSwing:

  1. Put the CD in your computer and follow the simple directions for installing the program.
  2. Plug the USB cord, from the unit, and your SmartDongle into available USB Ports on your computer.
  3. Plug in the power cord into an electrical outlet.
  4. Choose the program you want to use first, (Driving Range, Course, Practice Course, Putting, or Putting Game) and choose a club in the software.
  5. Tape the bottom of your drivers, putters and hybrids, (click here for 30-second club taping instructions) and you're ready to play!

Q: Can I use all the clubs in my bag?
A: Absolutely. The P3ProSwing lets you use woods, irons, wedges and putter from anywhere on the course, range or green. And unlike other systems the P3ProSwing is great for irons. With the P3ProSwing you hit your iron shots right off of the Sensor Unit - you do not have to use a tee.

Q: What type of computer is required?
A:
See our System Requirements page for full details and specifications.

Q: Are Apple products supported?
A: Apple's OS X Operating System is not supported. If you install Windows XP, Vista, or 7 on your Apple iMac, MacBook Pro, or Mac Pro, it may run.

Q: Is there a trial period?
A: P3ProSwing has a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee: The P3ProSwing is a superior product and we stand behind it. Your satisfaction is guaranteed. Purchase your P3ProSwing and practice for up to 30 days at home or at work. If you're not 100% satisfied, simply contact our customer service department at (207) 824-7411 for return authorization.
Then return it in its original condition and packaging, and receive a full refund*, less shipping and handling. *Full refund on P3ProSwing unit only. Mats, nets and impact screens, computers and all other accessories are not covered under full money back guarantee and will be subject to a 15% restocking fee.
Q: Does the system work for left handed golfers?
A: Yes. Just click on Options and check off the box for left-handed golfer.

Q: Does this include a projection system?
A: The P3ProSwing PRO, P3ProSwing Pro X, and P3Swing Pro XC do not include a projector. The P3ProSwing Pro XCS package includes a Projector and Hanging Impact Screen. The sharp, crisp projected images are so real, it’s like you’re on the course every day… without spending the time getting there or waiting to play (and with no lost balls…).

You can also connect the projector to your TV or to a video gaming system, creating a giant  home entertainment system.

Q: Could this be used at a driving range?
A: Yes, and it has been used at driving ranges before. As long as the sensor unit is powered and has access to a computer, P3ProSwing is able to run at a driving range. Because P3ProSwing‘s 65 optical elements use infrared to measure your golf swing, solid shade is required for outdoor use. We recommend solid shade that does not let the sun's heat waves through (such as a fabric enclosure). Direct Light, Heat waves and odd shadows interfere with the P3ProSwing sensor system.  It should be noted that the Power Supply for the Sensor Unit is not rated for outdoor use, and should not get wet, or be left outside unattended.

Q: Is a golf net included?
A: No. All of our products are offered a la carte, allowing for full customization of your home golf studio. We do have a great P3ProSwing Golf Net available in our store. Add a Versa Mat to stand on, or replace the net altogether with the Hanging Impact Projection Screen, to complete your custom golf studio. Call for more information

Q: Can I wash my Hanging Impact Screen?
A: Yes.  Warm Water Wash, No Bleach, Tumble Dry Synthetic Setting, Wash Dark Colors Separately.

Q: What is the warranty on the system?
A: Our 180 Day Limited Manufacturer Warranty is free and is included on every single sensor unit that we sell. The 180 Day Limited Manufacturer Warranty covers all defects in material or workmanship. The warranty does not cover commercial use or misuse by the customer.

Q: Why isn't my Smart Dongle working on my laptop?
A: If the SmartDongle driver does not install on your HP Laptop with AMD processor, you must uninstall the AMD USB Audio Filter Driver. The issue stems from a driver installed on certain HP Laptops to improve the quality of audio files with some USB Speakers & TV Tuners, and effects the way all USB Ports are handled on the computer.

To uninstall the AMD USB Audio Filter Driver:
1- Go to the 'Control Panel'
2- Select 'Programs and Features'
3- Select 'AMD USB Audio Filter Driver', uninstall it then restart the PC

Although HP states on their website that “there is no harm in uninstalling the driver”, please be aware that if you have an issue with your printer or audio quality after removing this driver, that the issue may be caused by the AMD USB Audio Filter Driver removal.

If you ever have the need to RE-install the AMD USB Audio Filter Driver (which is unlikely), the link is provided below, for your convenience.

A: Yes we do!  Click here to download the Vista/Windows 7 Driver file for the P3ProSwing USB to Serial adapter!

Q: How do I get my 64-bit system to operate properly?
A: You may need to download two free drivers from the Internet (depending on the version of your P3ProSwing Software). Here's how to do it:

1. Download the Silicon Labs Driver from: https://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/Pages/USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx
a. Once you click the link above - Click on the link that says 'VCP Driver Kit'
b. This will download a .zip file to your computer. This is a compressed file. (Click 'Save' on the popup window)
c. Once the download completes, click on the 'Open' button.
d. You will be prompted to 'Allow' this action.
e. This will unzip the file to your hard drive.
f. Double click the file to begin the installation process.
g. You will be prompted at the last menu with a checkbox to 'Launch Driver Installation'. Be sure this checkbox is checked before clicking on the 'Finish' button.
h. Follow the onscreen instructions to finish the installation.
i. If you get a prompt that it wishes to remove 2 files, go ahead and let it do this. This is normal. It is removing the old driver files (installed when you installed P3ProSwing) for the new 64-bit driver files.

2. Download the new 64-Bit SmartDongle Drivers from http://www.smartdongle.com/developer-tools-and-drivers
a. Click on the link labeled "Windows 7/Windows Vista/Windows XP/Server 2003/Server 2008

"
b. Again, this is a .zip file (compressed file). Click 'Save' on the pop up window.
c. Click Open when the download completes.
d. You will be prompted to 'Allow' this action.
e. This will unzip the file to your hard drive. Pay attention to where these unzip to as you'll need to go to them later.
f. Remove and re-install the dongle (looks like a jump drive) back into the USB Port.
g. If it prompts you to find the driver, click the option to 'Browse.' Then browse to the folder it created in step 'e' above. You'll want to choose the sub-folder labeled 'amd64'

Once both of these drivers are downloaded and installed... Restart your computer. This is always best to do when you've installed new drivers. Upon restart, you can open the P3ProSwing software and it should operate properly.
